HVAC design and consulting

Get the system right the first time.

Complete heat pump design for people building or renovating a home, and technical consulting for installers who want a second pair of eyes before they commit.

01What you get

A design you can hand to any installer.

Not a quote from someone who also wants to sell you the equipment. An independent design, sized on your building, that anyone can quote against.

Heat loss calculation

Room by room, transmission and ventilation losses separately, based on your actual construction rather than a rule of thumb per square metre.

Heat pump sizing

Sized against the real load and the modulation range of the unit, so it is not cycling on and off all winter.

Emitter design

Radiators, underfloor heating or fan-coils, sized at the flow temperature the heat pump will actually run at.

Hydronic schematic

Pipe sizing, pressure drop, pump and valve selection, and an honest decision on whether you need a buffer at all.

Domestic hot water

Cylinder volume and reheat time sized on how many people actually live there and how they use it.

Support during install

Available while the system goes in, and for the commissioning settings afterwards. A good design badly commissioned is still a bad system.

02The process

Five steps, no surprises.

01

First conversation

What you are building, what stage you are at, and whether a full design is even the right thing for you.

02

Building data

Drawings, construction layers, glazing, and how you plan to live in the house.

03

Calculation

Heat loss room by room, emitter sizing, pipe sizing and pressure drop through the index circuit.

04

Schematic and selection

A hydronic schematic and an equipment list that is brand-neutral unless you have already chosen.

05

Handover and support

You get the documents. Your installer builds it. I stay available for the questions that come up.

03Who this is for

Mostly end users.

Homeowners

Building or renovating, and you want it done once.

  • An independent design, not an equipment sales pitch
  • Numbers you can use to compare installer quotes fairly
  • A system sized for comfort and running cost, not for safety margin

Installers and developers

A second pair of eyes before you commit.

  • Design review on a project you are not sure about
  • Diagnosis on a system that is already installed and underperforming
  • Selective work, taken on where the project is interesting

04Clients

What design clients said.

Send me the drawings.

The first conversation is free, and I will tell you honestly if you do not need a full design.
